Nominator's project description
| Professor Hovakimyan is well known internationally for her pioneering work on L1 adaptive control theory. Adaptive flight control is a safety-enhancing technology. Until recently, however, it could not be used in certified aircraft due to the absence of possibilities to guarantee stability of the existing approaches. L1 control theory developed by Professor Hovakimyan has successfully addressed that issue. It is a breakthrough innovation that has been followed by a large research community world-wide. During her stay in Germany, Professor Hovakimyan plans to demonstrate L1 in real flight on the unique manned research aircraft of the Institute of Flight System Dynamics at the Technical University of Munich. |
